Glass and light are Kate's primary mediums and are often combined to create sculptural pieces, mainly site specific. Kate works predominantly with lamp-worked glass, a technique that uses glass rod and tubing which is blown and manipulated over a flame. It is a very fluid and organic process which helps to influence her work. Kate also uses light in her work combined with the glass, from natural sunlight to artificial, combining LEDs, fibre optics and neon in her work. Kate enjoys working on site specific installations making larger sculptural work that relates to the space in which it sits, often working with architects and interior designers. She accepts both public and private commissions.
